ËTIPS: BUYING A CONDO

Not all Realtors are cut from the same cloth. Ideally I would suggest doing business with a realtor and a loan officer that has a background in purchasing condos/townhomes. However, if you connect with the realtor and they seem motivated, do not be afraid to make that commitment. Just know, like  in any relationship, there could be bumps along the road to ownership.

DËSIGN: FASTER THAN PRINTS!

DËSIGN MASHUP: DIY GARMENT RACK

Sometimes it's not about reinventing the wheel more so just spinning it in a different direction. As a crafter by heart, I'm a sucker for a DIY! I spend hours scouring popular sites like Etsy and Pinterest looking for ideas to make my life easier and keep my pockets full of more than just lint. Google image search is my go to if I can't figure out how to put my problem into exact words and 9 times out of 10, after hours of research, I get close but not exact! So... I'm super excited to share with you some of my favorite DIY MASHUPS!

DËSIGN: IKEA HACK

Every IKEA lover loves a good IKEA HACK and although this one is super simple, I love getting a bang for my buck!

ëTIP: Winter Blooms

Fresh cut flowers are a great pick-me-up for this stubborn winter weather! Well designed flower arrangements can dig deep into your pockets.  Here are a few tips on creating beautiful arrangements with a simple trip to your local grocer!

1. Head straight to the Floral Department for a deal!  Look for  single stems or flowers by the bundle.

2.  Pick  2 or 3 different blooms.  A larger bloom like a Hydrangea is  a great complement to Petite Roses.

3. Think simple when choosing a color palette. You can never go wrong with  soft classics like pink, white and cream.  Solid color themes like all red, all white or shades of green, may seem simple but make for a beautiful clean presentation.

4. If you decide to go for a prearranged bouquet, step up the wow factor by purchasing 2 to 3  identical or similar bundles.  Combine them in a vessel to create a dramatic oversized arrangement.

5.  Choose your container! Don't limit yourself to a simple vase! You may not have vintage punch cups laying around so look in your fridge! Pasta Sauces often come in well designed glass bottles! Peel off the labels and rinse! Empty wine bottles and clear plastic cups are great vessels as well!

6. Prep your flowers! Cut stems on a diagonal and remove leaves and thorns as needed. As a rule of thumb, remove all leaves that may end up submerged in the water.

 7.  Remember, you can always take more stem off but you can't put stem back on. Start with large blooms and begin to fill your vessel! Fill in and snip down stems as needed.
Sometimes the most beautiful arrangements come from random placement!  Choosing to use one type of flower and keeping the color palette simple will camouflage amateur arranging skills.  Use your smaller blooms to fill in empty spaces and to shape your arrangement.

8. Water properly. If you plan on transporting your arrangement, a funnel is a good investment. Fill your vessel only half way to avoid splashing and use a funnel to add additional water at your final destination.

ëTIP: This plastic cup fits perfectly into the mouth of the  pitcher.

The secret to a beautiful flower arrangement  is having fun!

Relax and don't over think it!

Stop and take a step back every so often.  Flower are a natural occurrence and there is beauty in every flower! So there is no way you can go wrong!

Send us some snap shots of your fresh flower arrangements!

The Review: Simplehuman Trash Receptacle

I was super excited to get new trash cans a few months ago! I had been weary about purchasing trash cans for several reasons! 1. The clean up: Living in a condo I don’t readily have access to a garden hose and large outdoor space to wash out and maintain the cleanliness of trash cans. 2. Frequency in emptying the can. I was priorly using large trash bags… I know… I know… not very good house keeping. But with me having to load my trash on the elevator and walk it across the parking lot to the dumpster, I was trying to make as few trips as possible! Check out my review of my super cool simplehuman trash receptacles!

FOODIE: YARD SALE

How lucky am I that Southern Living is located right here in my city! Southern Living, Costal Living, Cooking Light, MyRecipes.com and Oxmoor House decided to open their annual "Prop Sale" to the public by creating the first ever Foodie Yard Sale. I was so super duper excited about this sale and once I saw the media marketing for the sale I just knew I had to go! They advertised pots, gadgets, cookbooks etc. all boasting prices  as low as 2 bucks for cookbooks and 50 cents for utensils/gadgets. All proceeds from the sales  benefited The Greater Birmingham Ministries to buy fresh veggies for their food pantries!

BOOKSHËLF: MARTHA'S ENTERTAINING

I LOVE MARTHA and this book, Martha's Entertaining: A Year of Celebrationscouldn't have been a better gift to receive! If you forced me to pick my favorite celebration, and if you know my love for miniatures, then you already knew that I was absolutely in love with the miniature menu that was created  for the Easter Egg Hunt on Martha's Bedford farm!

DELIVERY: WEST ELM

If you checked out my  HOMË: KITCHEN WISHES  post then you know I'm on the move to improve my kitchen oasis! I recently received the amazing gift of a West Elm gift card! When I received it, I was absolutely ecstatic and immediately thought of all the amazing things I had been lusting after on the site!
My original plan was to save it and use it for the tax and shipping on the BUTLER TRAY that I NEED IN MY POSSESSION but with my "staycation" around the corner I thought what better surprise than to receive a delivery on one of my lazy mornings!

WEST ELM BRUSHES TEA TOWEL

I totally have it in the works to design my own tea towels but when I saw this BRUSHES TEA TOWEL  I had to have it! It's super cute! My first choice was the Flag Conversions Tea Towel but they were out of stock :(

HOMË: KITCHEN WISHES

I recently replaced my “standard” kitchen sink faucet with a Peerless Stainless Steel Pull-Down faucet. Let me just say that it has made an amazing difference to the function of my sink as well as my outlook on my sink area! The high faucet looks great against my subway tile backsplash but what about all that empty granite space? Take a look at my stylish, yet useful, splurge worthy  Kitchen Wish List!

HOMË : WINDOW SHOPPING

I can and do spend hours on end "window" shopping ... oooh-ing" and "omg-ing" at some of  the most beautifully designed functional art. Check out a few of my favorite online Home Decor Stores.
I was introduced to West Elm via Apartment Therapy and I was smitten at first click! I am in absolute love with the above Butler Tray Stand  and Tray (sold separately). The selections on West Elm never disappoint! The site is functional and easy to navigate and there is always something interesting in the sales section. You can sign up for the email alerts and my personal experience with ordering and shipping was great! For some of  you lucky people you can actual visit a West Elm store front in your area and  I envy  you!
An online oaisis of higher end decor goods . The sort of place that makes you put a jar next to your vacation jar and drop more money it in than the latter because you can sleep on that bedding every day but you'd only get to look at the eifell tower for a few !  I'm still saving for my first purchase even though I have my eyes on one of the more conservatively priced drink dispensers pictured above!
Horchow also provides room ideas along with furniture, bed and bath, lighting and many other shopping options! You can also find Horchow pieces via Neiman Marcus and the Last Call by Neiman Marcus. Live in Texas? We'll you're in luck as it is the home of the Horchow Finale store! Did I mention I am suppppper jealous?
Is really like another world. I have to be honest, I have the luxury of having a store near me so I shop more instore than online. I've made many purchase from tchotchke to furniture (post to come) and I haven't been dissapointed yet! World Market carries unique and trendy pieces. They have a rewards club and frequently have amazing sales. The food section is great for hard to find or wow factor entertainment goodies! Seasonal/ Holiday themed merchandise are plentiful and definitely one of a kind!
