THE RËVIEW: Jackson's Bar Bistro

REVIEW: Tucked away in Soho Square, Jacksons's stone pizza oven, along with their unique desserts are definitely attention grabbers.

SHRIMP & GRITS

BUFFALO FEATHERS: Pulled Chicken flash fried with hot sauce. Served with Ranch and Blue Cheese Dipping Sauces.

AMBIANCE: We were greeted quickly and escorted upstairs to the balcony seating area. Bustling as usual, the open designed restaurant  allows you to look down from the balcony and catch glimpses of the kitchen and bar. We received our menus and unfortunately they looked like many people had received them before us.  They were well worn and quite dirty.

THE SERVICE: The waiter was quick with our order, solved the rocky table with a sliver of paper and refilled our beverages on request. On our waiters suggestion we tried the popular BUFFALO FEATHERS appetizer. While the concept was interesting, the feathers  texture was a bit on the rubbery side and lacked a definitive flavor.
Our entrees arrived just as ordered. I tried the   PEPPERED PEPPERONI PIZZA  with basil. Not only was it picture perfect but it was also delicious and evenly cooked. I love fresh cracked pepper but it was a little heavy handed on the peppercorns. The pie was a great size , definitely enough to share!

THE VERDICT: I couldn't leave without trying out one of the desserts! The GOOEY BUTTER CAKE with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream was a delicious rich brownie like cake. I've visited and reviewed Jackson's Bar/Bistro  a few years ago over on the  outsidesinsides blog and I would say Jackson's  menu and service hasn't changed much.
